The Blessings of Godly Wisdom

The Blessings of Godly Wisdom

Scrolls by Timothy Jerry

Proverbs 3:13-18 (Amplified Bible) Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences], 14 For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold. 15 Skillful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor. 17 Her ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.

Godly wisdom gives us insight and understanding of the knowledge that we have gained from God’s word and life’s experiences. Godly wisdom will always lead us toward a more holy lifestyle in God, whereas worldly wisdom leads people away from God, to trusting in their own human understanding.

The wisdom that comes from God brings with it pleasantness rather than turmoil. In addition to this, godly wisdom provides a quality of life and not merely a quantity of possessions. Bringing a peace and joy that temporal pleasures alone can never provide.

Godly wisdom will bring us into alignment with God’s will, which in turn brings us into the flow of God’s blessings. Many people see material wealth as something to be greatly desired, but without godly wisdom financial prosperity can be our undoing.

If material possessions alone brought true fulfillment then Americans should be the most contented and joyful people on earth. Yet by all observations in spite of this great wealth we see broken families, discontentment, and deteriorating health throughout the nation. Without the wisdom of God, knowledge and abundance will only amplify the character traits that are lacking in an individual or nation.

Godly wisdom is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.

  1. Am glad to visit your web. Am in love with it as it has been great to use it as a resourceful material in my teaching as a pastor. God Bless. Am a pastor of a small but ready to grow church ministry. In our ministry we are proud to be the image of our true God. We care for the homeless, care for the orphans, elderly, widows and widowers and be bridge to the poor. We’re driven by *Paul* telling us to equip others, by *Mark* (and Luke) telling us to address their emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical needs, and then by *Luke* who tells us we can do this by showing love to others. Finally, *Matthew* in his gospel, chapter 10, verses 30-46 relates to us that the “least of these” who are hungry, thirsty, estranged, naked, sick, or imprisoned also includes those in the Body of Christ, thus taking us full circle to Paul’s instruction of doing all we can to build up the Body. *”This is a true saying, and everyone should believe it: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – and I was the worst of them all. But that is why God had mercy on me, so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. Glory and honor to God forever and ever. He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.” 1 Timothy 1:15-17* “For we are God’s handwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). Humbly we are requesting for affiliation status and extend an invitation to visit us here in Kenya to share God’s word with the people of Kenya.
